The Gloucester BNI chapter welcomes visitors! However, we realize that walking into such a structured meeting can be intimidating. We've created this visitors guide to make you feel more comfortable when visiting our group.
The Gloucester BNI chapter meets every Thursday from 7:00 - 8:30 am at the Gloucester House Restaurant.
We love visitors! Feel free to come to a meeting and see what BNI is all about.
During the first half of the meeting, each member speaks briefly about their business. We go around the room twice; the first time only members speak, and the second time is your chance to speak! While all visitors are given 60 seconds to speak, if you are in the same profession as a current member, it's better to simply say that you're competing with someone in the group rather than promote your competing business. After some brief announcements we take a break, giving members a chance to pass referrals, stretch our legs, and refill our coffee.
During the second half of the meeting, two members are given a longer time slot to present their businesses in greater detail. After these presentations, we go around the room and give all members a chance to pass referrals to other members, or to thank members for services received. At this time, we encourage visitors to stand and share their overall impression of the meeting. After the referrals have all been passed, we have final announcements and then additional networking time.
The meeting's over, what to do?
If you think you might like to join, or if you would just like some additional information, we encourage you to speak with the head of our membership committee, Diane Rule-Enos(any member will be happy to point you in the right direction). Diane will be happy to answer any questions you might have, and can give you an application to join.
How many times can I visit?
Prospective members may visit twice before submitting an application.
Can anyone apply?
We welcome applications from anybody who's profession is not currently represented in the group. If there is a conflict between you and another member, you are welcome to put your name on a waiting list and we'll notify you when that position opens up. You can see a list of all chapters and the professions represented at www.bnimass.com.
Once I apply, what happens?
When you submit an application to join the Gloucester BNI chapter, you block out any competing applicants until your application has been processed. Acceptance, however, is not automatic. It generally takes 2-3 weeks for membership to check references and come to a decision. Once you've submitted an application, you may keep visiting the group until a decision has been made.
